In September 2011 I went to Thailand for a longer holiday. Tooh and I visited Phuket. We stayed at the Marriott Mai Khao Beach Resort. The resort had many beautiful pools and was on the Mai Khao beach. We took a few day trips, with the most memorable to Krabi and around the Phi Phi islands area. We went to Maya Bay, made famous by Leonardo DiCaprio's movie 'The Beach'. Maya Bay beach was very pretty, but it seemed to me it had become too commercialized.
After returning to Bangkok we visited the Bangkok Art and Cultural Center (BACC). The BACC is very close to Siam Paragon. Art, music, theater, film, design and cultural/educational events take place in its exhibition and performance spaces. The center includes cafes, commercial art galleries, bookshops, craft shops, and an art library. It is intended as a venue for cultural exchange, giving Bangkok an operational base on the international art scene.
If you are shopping at Siam Paragon, Siam Center, or Siam Discovery, don't miss out on a tour of the Bangkok Art and Cultural Center!
